A.I.M High Maths Days

Where inquisitive young mathematicians can learn, investigate and discover…
What is an AIM High Maths Day?
Local schools send students to a central host school where they will spend the day working in a class-sized group with an experienced Maths Specialist who will guide them through maths investigations and puzzles to enable a deeper understanding of mathematical principles. We work with a range of Maths Specialists including MathMagicians, experienced teachers and consultants who use a range of techniques and activities to stretch and challenge young mathematicians.
Days are usually targeted towards gifted and more able young mathematicians, or those with a particular interest or flair for maths, but we also occasionally run dedicated days for those who find maths challenging, or who need a little bit of extra support to catch up with their peers.
Whilst the focus of each AIM High Day may be slightly different, AIM High Maths Days can cover core curriculum areas including;
Promoting enjoyment of maths and understanding how important it is in our daily lives
Reasoning, problem solving and systematic thinking
Oracy, communication, discussion and collaboration
Looking for patterns and making predictions
Measurement and statistics
Whatever the theme of the AIM High Writing Day, all participants will have the opportunity to participate in a range of mathematical activities and investigations both individually and in small groups in a supportive environment where collaboration between students and schools is encouraged and celebrated.
